10:45am – 12:00pm and 1:00pm - 3:00pm Grade Groupings
Grade group meetings will focus on:
1. Curriculum Awareness

Foundational objectives and Sample Units in the curriculum
“What do we want them to learn?”
Assessment
“How will we know they’ve learned it?”
Self Evaluation
“What will I need to do to accomplish this?”
2. Hands-on activities (utilize 3 components where possible)
3. Getting to Know the Sample Units (print copies will be available)
Allow time for teachers to discuss Sample Units.
A Graphic Organizer will be provided to assist with analysis, idea web, and discussion.
4. Evaluation: objectives and checklists (samples in the document)
5. Resources available (in my school/community/division/province and on-line)
6. Idea: set a goal to teach one unit in the next month, find a colleague to talk to about it, and send reflection to Central Office to share with the Teacher Leader Committee

- Feb. 22/06 half day to discuss teacher training, curriculum needs, research and resources.
- May 8/06 half day to discuss ideas, assign and plan grade group tasks.
- Sept. 5/06 half day to finalize plans and collect resources.
- Sept. 19 or 22/06 half day to complete details for grade group workshops.
- Sept. 25/06 Present Arts Education Inservice to grade 1 to 5 teachers.
